BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY: Approximately 15 minutes between Maggie Valley and Cherokee is the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Forty-six miles of America’s favorite scenic drive, explore side roads off its route to wineries, mountain communities and the Folk Art Center. US 19 at Soco Gap.

CATALOOCHEE SKI RESORT: Climb down Sheepback Mountain and go to Ghost Town entrance, follow road up mountain to Cataloochee Ski Resort. Approximately 15 minutes up the mountain road.

CATALOOCHEE VALLEY: Approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour traveling the direction to Knoxville, on a “hidden” and partial gravel road to the Cataloochee Valley where remains of a settlers' village and home to the re-introduced population of elk. US 276 north to Cove Creek Road.

CHEROKEE: Approximately 30 minutes. Explore the heritage, history and culture of the region's Native Americans - the Museum of the Cherokee Indian. Visit Oconaluftee village and attend the outdoor drama "Unto These Hills." Harrah’s casino, a 60,000 square-foot casino, open 24 hours a day, featuring major entertainers. US 19 south.

DILLSBORO: Approximately 35-40 minutes. A great little town of shops and eatery’s where the Great Smoky Mountain Railway boards. Dinner trains, all-day trips, murder mystery trips, and whitewater rafting combinations. US 23/74 west, exit 81 to Dillsboro.

FRANKLIN: Approximately 45 minutes. Whitewater, gem mining (as featured on the Travel Channel), museums, fishing, waterfalls, golf. US 23/74 west, exit 81 to US 23/441 south.

GHOST TOWN: Ghost Town in the Sky has a mile-high roller coaster, staged gunfights, crafts, food, live music, shows, and lots more fun. Step back into the Wild West days while enjoying breathtaking views. It's sure to be fun for ALL AGES.

GOLF COURSES: There are about 8 golf courses in the area with breathtaking scenery.

GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS: Miles of hiking, biking and riding trails. Clingmans Dome, the Appalachian Trail; the historic preserved community of Cades Cove, only to name a few of the great sites and adventures of the Great Smokies.

NANTAHALA RIVER: 1 hour. The Nantahala River Gorge has great whitewater rafting, trout fishing, picnicking, hiking and biking trails. US 23/74 west to US74.

PIGEON FORGE/GATLINBURG . 1.5 hours, Gatlinburg Aquarium, Ripley's and Guinness Book of World Records museums, tons of outlet storeshopping and Dollywood, an amusement park celebrating Southern culture through crafts, music and food. US 19 south to US 441 north.

WAYNESVILLE: 20 minutes to downtown Waynesville offers unique shops, a historical gerneral store, many great art gallerys and eatery’s.
